The role in detail
We are seeking experienced auditors to join our team, focusing on providing audit and control services for EU Institutions. This role involves conducting financial and compliance audits, supporting decision-makers, and collaborating closely with EU officials to ensure financial accountability and transparency.
The key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Perform financial audits of EU Institutions, ensuring compliance with EU regulations and frameworks (e.g., IFRS, IPSAS), and prepare planning memorandums and sample selections
- Frequent travel abroad for audit assignments in Europe and the Western Balkans, attending internal and client meetings
- Prepare working papers, draft reports, and annexes, ensuring all deliverables meet contractual deadlines
- Provide follow-up support for queries during and after audit assignments
- Contribute to business development and marketing efforts
- Supervise and mentor audit teams to ensure effective and efficient audit work
- Review audit deliverables for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with professional standards
- Build strong relationships with EU Institutions, clients, and stakeholders, while implementing best practices to enhance audit methodologies and efficiencies
- Stay updated on developments in accounting, auditing standards, and EU regulations
To be successful at this role you need the following (hard and soft skills):
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CIA (completed or near completion)
- At least 5 years of auditing experience, preferably within the public sector
- Experience conducting international and cross-border assignments
- Experience working in multicultural teams and delivering results under tight deadlines
- Familiarity with financial audits in public sector and/or EU grant audits is highly advantageous
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional EU languages is an asset
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable to evolving challenges
