The role in detail
We are seeking experienced auditors to join our assurance team, with a primary focus on providing audit and control services related to projects funded from EU or the Greek public sector.
Our portfolio includes institutions and organisations involved in the management and expenditure of EU funds such as the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), Horizon Europe (RDT), Connecting Europe Facility (CINEA), Neighborhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (DG NEAR) , entities funded under Developmental Laws or Strategic and Flagship Investments or other EU structural and investment instruments.
This role involves performing financial, operational, and compliance audits, verifying milestones and deliverables, assessing eligibility of expenditures, and collaborating closely with EU and national authorities to ensure financial accountability, regulatory compliance, and transparency.
The key responsibilities of this role will include:
Perform financial audits of EU Institutions and public organizations, ensuring compliance with EU funding regulations and accounting frameworks (e.g., IFRS, IPSAS)
Perform RRF milestones and targets audits as defined by the Ministerial decisions
Perform audits of eligibility of Investments financed under Developmental Laws, Strategic and Flagship Investments
Prepare working papers, draft reports, and annexes, ensuring all deliverables meet contractual deadlines
Provide follow-up support for queries during and after audit assignments
Contribute to business development and marketing efforts
Supervise and mentor audit teams to ensure effective and efficient audit work
Review audit deliverables for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with professional standards
Build strong relationships with EU Institutions, clients, and stakeholders, while implementing best practices to enhance audit methodologies and efficiencies
Stay updated on developments in accounting, auditing standards and EU regulations
To be successful at this role you need the following (hard and soft skills):
A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Professional certifications such as ACA ACCA, or CIA (completed or near completion) or a Master Degree in relevant field will be considered as an asset
At least 3 years of auditing experience, preferably within the public sector or Investment instruments
Experience working in multicultural teams and delivering results under tight deadlines
Fluency in English and Greek (spoken and written) and an experienced user of MS Office
Excellent communication skills, pro-active and problem solving attitude
Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable to evolving challenges
Military obligations fulfilled
