The role in detail

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Data Engineer to join our AI Center of Excellence. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced data solutions that power AI and machine learning initiatives across the enterprise. As a strategic member of our technology team, you'll architect modern data platforms on Azure, drive engineering excellence, and enable data-driven decision-making at scale. The key responsibilities of this role will include:

• Architecting and implementing big data platforms using Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, and Data Lake Storage Gen2

• Leading the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines

• Designing and optimizing data storage and processing architectures to support advanced analytics and machine learning use cases

• Ensuring data security, integrity, and compliance across Azure environments

• Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to define data architecture standards and strategies

• Driving the adoption of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure as code using Azure DevOps

• Supporting the data engineering team through mentorship, technical leadership, and hands-on solution delivery

To be successful at this role you need the following (hard and soft skills):

• 4-6 years of experience in Data Engineering role with expertise in Azure data stack, including Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Data Lake Gen2, and Fabric

• Deep knowledge of big data technologies, especially Apache Spark and Kafka

• Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL for data manipulation, transformation, and orchestration

• Strong understanding of data warehousing principles and data modeling techniques

• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automation workflows, and IaC using Azure DevOps

• Solid grasp of cloud security, compliance, and data governance standards

• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex data needs into scalable architectural solutions

• Effective communicator who can engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Leadership mindset with experience guiding teams and setting engineering standards

• Agile, adaptable, and comfortable working in Scrum or Kanban delivery environments

• Passionate about innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement

• Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert)

• Track record of delivering in fast-paced, high-stakes environments
