The role in detail

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and manage large-scale technology projects within ministries and public sector organizations. This role involves full-cycle project management, including governance, planning, stakeholder coordination, and compliance, ensuring the successful execution of IT initiatives in alignment with government policies and objectives. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing deliverables and conducting technical studies to support project execution.

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

Project Management:

• Establish and manage the PMO framework for public sector technology projects
• Define governance structures, methodologies, and tools tailored to government entities
• Oversee the creation, review, and timely submission of all project deliverables, including progress reports, technical documentation, and regulatory submissions

Project Deliverables & Technical Studies:

• Prepare high-quality project deliverables, such as technical reports, functional specifications, and feasibility studies
• Conduct in-depth technical analyses and studies to support project design and successful implementation
• Ensure all deliverables adhere to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and project objectives

Project Planning & Coordination:

• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for IT implementations
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, including internal staff, vendors, and stakeholders, to align efforts with project goals

Stakeholder Management:

• Serve as the primary point of contact with ministry officials and public sector stakeholders
• Ensure alignment of project objectives with organizational goals and client requirements
• Address issues proactively and provide consistent updates on project progress and risks

Monitoring & Reporting:

• Track and assess project progress using KPIs, milestones, and risk metrics
• Prepare and present regular progress reports to public sector decision-makers and other stakeholders

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

• Ensure projects comply with public sector procurement regulations, data security standards, and government protocols
• Implement robust quality assurance processes to guarantee high-quality outcomes

Resource Allocation & Vendor Management:

• Manage resource allocation across multiple projects to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
• Oversee vendor contracts, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs)

To be successful at this role you need the following (hard and soft skills):

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience managing IT projects in the public sector.
• Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is required
• Demonstrated understanding of public sector processes, procurement regulations, and compliance requirements
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities to manage complex projects
• Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, or equivalent)
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and government officials
• A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to manage risks and resolve conflicts effectively
• Expertise in preparing technical documentation, deliverables, and conducting feasibility studies
• Familiarity with public sector IT systems, frameworks, and digital transformation initiatives
• Military Obligations completed (if applicable)
