The role in detail
We are seeking a proactive and curious Data Scientist to join our AI Center of Excellence. This role focuses on machine learning, with a strong emphasis on time series forecasting and anomaly detection, across projects in diverse domains such as finance, energy, and maritime. You will work on building ethical and responsible AI, developing skills in model explainability, fairness, and uncertainty estimation. Collaborating with experienced engineers, you'll also learn to apply software engineering best practices, including Object-Oriented programming, to build robust, production-ready solutions.
The key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Translate business problems into technical ML tasks.
- Develop and deploy ML models such as time series forecasting and anomaly detection, supervised and unsupervised learning, NLP.
- Perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, and rigorous model evaluation.
- Conduct literature reviews and stay current with state-of-the-art methods.
- Apply and develop methods for model explainability, fairness, and uncertainty estimation.
- Collaborate with engineers to adopt software engineering best practices and ensure code is clean and scalable.
- Clearly present scientific work and model findings in written format.
To be successful at this role you need the following (hard and soft skills):
- 1-3 years in a Data Science or ML role.
- Hands-on experience with Scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Solid understanding of ML concepts, time series analysis, forecasting and anomaly detection techniques.
- Strong inclination towards Object-Oriented (OO) programming and clean, reproducible code.
- Ability to perform literature reviews and stay current with academic research.
- Proficient in Python, Pandas, and NumPy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present scientific work and findings clearly.
- Eagerness to learn from senior team members and work effectively across teams.
- A strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth.
- Sense of ownership.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Git versioning.
- Familiarity with concepts such as model deployment, monitoring, and experiment tracking.
- Background in deep learning and NLP.
